This ice house, in the today's world commonly referred to as a refrigerator, was built in the Safavid era. Water would come to this dome-shaped structure and would freeze in the winter in layers. Then in the summer, they would use the ice for different purposes (i.e to show children how fast ice can melt in this city). There is an outlet coming out from the bottom of the ice house for the melted water to go out, otherwise if the water remained in the ice house, it would speed up the melting process. Very smart if you ask me.
